Williams Swords of Fury

Doug Watson / 1988 - 06 | 2,705 / System 11B

A rough diamond called Swords of Fury. A gorgeous cabinet. Terribly dirty (mold on the inside) and terribly nice (really undamaged). And the playing field? The best SoF playing field which we have seen in recent years. found just anywhere in Antwerp.

The problem with nearly every SoF is the mylar where air comes under. Blowing so. Besides, this phenomenon occurs at each (system 11) wardrobe for this period (the Swords was produced in 1988). In addition, the Swords has a specific problem that occurs on the inserts. For example, for very many copies of the "1000" and "1500" inserts, which are in the "titan tunnel" located, damaged. As well as the "3X" inserts under the spinners.

Another very common injury is located above the mini-playfield, the large round insert with the sword is rarely seen in undamaged condition. Nevertheless, the playing field of the SoF in a very good condition. Not perfect, but the above-described problems have hardly occurred in this instance. This pinball rightly deserves a place in the hyper balls collection.

The artwork of this flipper is Doug Watson (including Attack from Mars, Indiana Jones), which was inspired by the books of Tolkien. . This is the only pinball where Doug Watson also (partly) responsible for the design. It is also the first pinball in which to hear the voice of Doug.

A success story? Worldwide, there are sold just over 2500 copies. Not much when you consider that there are sold, for example, a Tomcat (1987) 14,000. In the Netherlands, there was not hot for that time. Still not really. However, our eastern neighbors love it. The small number of copies which are then sold in the Netherlands will have moved mostly to game rooms of German owners ...

The music of these pinball is magnificent. Brian Schmidt (including Black Knight 2000) proved to be able to, with the small amount of memory which he had at his disposal once again to make something beautiful.
